Under minimal supervision, the Workers Compensation Claims Advocate
is responsible for providing expertise and telephonic customer service to injured employees. The Claims Advocate will assist the Claims Adjuster and/or Managed Care Organization with the administration of the workers compensation claims and coordination of benefits and medical care.
This position is full-time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 2720 N. Tenaya Way, Las Vegas NV 89128.
Employees will be required to work some days onsite and some days from home
*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Groups Telecommuter Policy.
Primary Responsibilities:
Direct phone-based customer interaction with injured employees. The Claims Advocate is required to contact injured employees by telephone within 1 business day of notice of injury to inform and explain to the employee what to expect during the workers' compensation process.
The Advocate will diary and make follow up contacts with the injured employees.
Resolve or assist in the resolution of simple to complex issues. The Advocate will make recommendations on services and will routinely work closely with the Claims Adjuster to expedite problem resolution for the injured employee.
Acts as a technical resource and point of contact for the injured employees. The Claims Advocate will answer questions and provide customer service to injured employees.
Plan, prioritize, organize and complete work to meet established objectives.
Document discussions and all other activity in the claims system.
Other duties may include administrative support including the preparation and distribution of correspondence.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED (or higher) OR equivalent work experience
2 years customer service experience
1 years workers compensation experience
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
Experience with Microsoft Word (create correspondence and work within templates), Excel (ability to sort, filter and create simple spreadsheets) and Outlook (organize email, manage calendar, share files)

Preferred Qualifications:
3 years Customer Service Experience
Health Care/Insurance environment (familiarity with medical terminology, health plan documents, or benefit plan design)
Social work, behavioral health, disease prevention, health promotion and behavior change (working with vulnerable populations)
Telecommuting Requirements:
Reside within commutable distance to Las Vegas, NV
Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
