Job Description:

What is the role?

The Valuation team forms part of the FTM team, providing Finance and Valuation expertise in support of deal delivery within the remit of the Acquisition, Divestment & NBD team (Corporate M&A, Acquisition, Divestment, NBD, Exploration), aiming to generate sustainable value and drive strategic portfolio changes through the Energy Transition, by delivering innovative, integrated commercial deals, from inception to successful completion. FTM also provide trusted, independent advice and analysis to decision makers.

The Valuation team performs fit-for-purpose economics and financial analysis for all Shell businesses (Upstream, Downstream, Integrated Gas & New Energies) with an internal and external lens, quantifying risks and returns across the integrated value chain, providing impactful valuation insights to decision makers to support informed decisions with close proximity to the Business Opportunity Managers.

The main accountability of the Valuation Analyst in this Brazil position is to provide valuation support on 1 to 5 deals at any one time, depending on size and complexity. The main focus of this role is the Shell Energy Brazil business and will work in collaboration with other Analyst and Manager in the global Valuation team.

The Valuation Analyst will support projects as a core member of the multi-disciplinary opportunity team focusing on integrating valuation assumptions, developing valuation models and delivering value insights to enhance the opportunity value proposition in close co-operation with the other members of the opportunity team (typically in Shell Energy Brazil). The pivotal nature of the role in the opportunity team (“spider in the web”) requires the individual to work closely with other disciplines.

The Valuation Analyst will further deepen their experience in value chains; valuation analysis; the Decision Quality methodology; valuation model building; fiscal systems; commercial negotiations; risk & uncertainty; identifying value drivers and using these to improve value propositions; preparing decision documents (PCNs, GIPs/GDPs); and internal/external stakeholder management. The incumbent will get an opportunity to develop experience in coaching and supporting / peer-reviewing others. These experiences and skills will be very beneficial for staff pursuing Commercial, Finance and Technical careers as well as career Economists.

What we need from you


Must have legal authorization to work in the Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum 5 or more years of experience with valuation of deals, economics and Excel/Financial modelling is also required.
Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and oral) is required.

Required to have competence in framing the opportunity and valuation, decision analysis, valuation of Acquisition, Divestment and NBD opportunities, fiscal systems, risk & uncertainty, quantification of non-technical risks, model building and the communication of value insights to help achieve high quality value propositions.
