This is a non-supervisory position. Works assisting veterans and their families in obtaining assistance. Receives referrals and information regarding community services. Works under limited supervision; serves as point of contact with veterans, providers, their dependents and families to provide connections for various services. Duties include receive and review incoming self-referrals (service requests that are submitted through the online self-referral form, or received directly on the coordination centers phone number or email address). Performs intake duties; collect necessary data, documents and qualifying information, documents and tracks progress of self-referrals while guiding consumers though the department services process. Duties also include providing appropriate referrals to other services if needed. Conducts outreach activities to identify veterans, their dependents, or survivors in need of support services. Knowledge of veteran community, community resources, how to make appropriate referrals to community and other governmental agencies for services, and ability to coordinate services. Ability to independently assess the needs of clients and their family members identifying the clients' problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and assistance needed, in collaboration with the client and family. Ability to independently conduct assessments and provide treatment to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diversified backgrounds. Knowledge of human development and behavior (physical and psychological) and the differential influences of the environment, society and culture. This position requires independent judgment and skill in utilizing supportive, problem solving or crisis intervention techniques.
Desired Degree/Job Experience: Associates in Social Service, Communication, Marketing or Human Services. Experience in social services work; Graduation from an accredited two- year college with coursework in behavioral sciences, social sciences, humanities, or a related field is desired; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities. Other Qualifications: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Veteran and/or military spouse required. AACOG business hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., M-F. This position is a Pay Grade 7, with a starting hourly rate of $15.28. This is a non-exempt position.
