Description
The Subrogation Professional 2 identifies, investigates, and collects recoveries from third parties who are legally responsible for paying all or part of medical expenditures for an organization that provides health insurance. The Subrogation Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
The Subrogation Professional 2 interacts with attorneys and third-party insurance professionals to explore where there may be liability and negotiate and coordinate claim payments. Ensure Coordination of Benefits (COB) records for members who have other insurance coverage are up-to-date. Respond to subrogation inquiries regarding third-party liability policies and procedures. Career-Development position within field. Conducts tasks and assignments as directed. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years Subrogation experience in healthcare and/or property and casualty with a proven record of maximizing financial recoveries
Strong Microsoft Office proficiency - ability to create forms, reports, and documents in Word, Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly analytical and tech-savvy
Strong organizational abilities
Ability to manage multiple time sensitive tasks
Excellent ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization
This is a Work from home position that will require travel of less than 5%
For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated, including booster or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
