We have an opportunity to join the Alliance as the Cultural and Linguistic Program Advisor in the Quality and Health Programs Department.

There is one position that can be filled in any of our Alliance offices (Merced, Salinas or Scotts Valley).

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Reporting to the Quality and Health Programs Supervisor, you will:

Lead Cultural and Linguistic (C&L) program activities and projects

Coordinate initiatives and projects to advance the Alliance’s health equity strategies and departmental workplans by conducting research, gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data and recommending solutions to reduce health disparities

Provide subject matter expertise and develop and conduct trainings related to cultural competency and sensitivity for Alliance staff and Alliance network providers

Ensure written member materials are designed to motivate members to modify personal health behaviors, achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles, and promote positive health

ABOUT THE ALLIANCE CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC SERVICES PROGRAM:

The Alliance is committed to delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate health care services to our diverse membership. The goal of the Cultural and Linguistic Services Program (CLSP) is to ensure that all plan members — regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, creed, ancestry, ethnic backgrounds, language, marital status, English proficiency, age, health status, physical or mental disability, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity, or identification with any other persons or groups — all have equal access to quality healthcare and that covered services are provided in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. The CLSP encompasses language assistance services for members and cultural competency, sensitivity, and diversity training of staff, providers, and subcontractors.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Expertise in cultural competency, with passion and skill for member advocacy and working with diverse communities

Talent in leading and implementing programs in an ever evolving, fast-paced environment

Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal

Skill in building and nurturing relationships with internal and external business partners

An ability to learn quickly and an ease in shifting gears amidst changing priorities

Experience with data analysis, tracking and reporting with a keen ability to tell a story with data

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Knowledge of:

Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Hmong

Healthcare industry

Principles and practices of health education, health promotion, and health literacy

Sociological and economic factors that affect community health

Methods of research, analysis and reporting

Health disparities in a healthcare setting and their impact on Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) and LGBTQ communities

Medi-Cal and related Title 22 regulations

Ability to:

Plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks, coordinate activities and projects, and achieve goals and timelines

Identify issues, conduct research, gather, and analyze information, reach logical and sound conclusions, and offer recommendations and potential consequences

Ability to effectively, clearly, and independently document, summarize and resolve issues

Interpret, apply and explain legal, regulatory, and contractual language, policies, procedures, and guidelines

Develop training materials, in conjunction with Training and Development staff, and conduct staff and provider training

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Public or Community Health, Human Services, Social Science or a related field

Minimum of five years of experience performing health education or health promotion in a health care setting which included some experience developing and conducting training and performing data analysis (a Master’s degree may substitute for two years of the required experience); or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying

OTHER DETAILS

While this position is connected to one of our Alliance offices, we are in hybrid telecommute work environment right now and we anticipate that the interview process will take place remotely.

Our Alliance office locations have officially re-opened as of May 2, 2022 and while some employees may work in full-time telecommute schedules, attendance at quarterly company-wide events or department meetings will be expected.

Based on the nature of work, this position may require onsite presence, which is dependent on business need. Details about this can be reviewed during the interview process.

COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement:

This position requires staff to be fully vaccinated and boosted upon their start date as a condition of employment. Proof of vaccination must be submitted at time of hire. Fully vaccinated is defined as receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series (ex: Pfizer & Moderna vaccines) OR receipt of a single-dose vaccine (ex: Johnson & Johnson); AND receipt of the booster (if eligible); AND a 2-week period having passed since the administration of the last vaccine dose.

Additionally, all positions at the Alliance are required to meet these minimum qualifications.
